Recreation & Community Facilities

The Village of Boyle is proud of all it has to offer its residents with respect to recreation and community facilities.

Boyle Arena & Curling Rink

Our Arena was recently upgraded and now boasts a beautiful mezzanine and viewing area where people can sit comfortably and watch the activities on the ice surface. Boyle has a strong commitment to its youth and this is shown by the busy schedules kept by Boyle Minor Hockey and the Figure Skating Club. We also have an active “Old Timers” hockey team and other recreational hockey opportunities. See Arena Schedule on the Bulletin Board.

The Boyle Curling Club is very proud of its 3 sheet facility which is connected by way of a pedway to our Arena. A full kitchen facility is found on the main level, and the mezzanine and viewing area has an area for snacks and refreshments. The Curling Club hosts a Men’s Bonspiel, and Ladies Bonspiel and a Mixed Bonspiel every year and is kept busy with league play in between.

Boyle & District Community Centre

The Community Centre is located on main street just down from the Village office. It comfortably seats 400 people in its main area (500 without tables) and houses both the local playschool and our public library.

Summer recreation within the Village includes ball diamonds, volleyball sand pits and tennis courts. For outdoor enthusiasts one doesn’t have to travel far to enjoy all that our area has to offer. Swimming, boating, water skiing, trail riding, bike and hiking paths and camping facilities are available at Long Lake Provincial Park, Hope Lake, Skeleton Lake and North Buck Lake, all just a short drive from town. Flat Lake, located just a few miles west of the Village, offers some of the best bird watching in Alberta.

Winter offers opportunities for ice fishing, cross country and downhill skiing and snowmobile rallies within the immediate area, and with our Arena and Curling Rink always busy, one never has to travel to far to find activities.
